DJs Sokko & Lyons Release MDMA Harm Reduction VideoEman
A big shout out to Eugene, Oregon DJs Sokko and Lyons, who recently released a harm reduction video on MDMA. We appreciate their balance of humor, caution and a non-judgmental harm reduction approach. This is the only way to educate people and save lives. They also used a lot of information from our MDMA Neurochemistry Slideshow, and linked to us in their Youtube post. Thanks guys! Check out our comments below the video.
- In this video Sokko and Lyons mention vitamins and supplements. While this is always good advice, remember that there is no substitute for moderation. 5-htp, in particular, will make you feel better after taking MDMA, because it helps restore serotonin, but this might tempt you to take MDMA again sooner than you would otherwise. Don’t let vitamins and supplements convince you that you can take MDMA safely more frequently. Remember, Less is More. (Take note also that 5-htp won’t help if your “Molly” is actually methylone or any of a number of other drugs disguising themselves as MDMA.)
- Sokko and Lyons also mention using a test kit “to test your drugs to make sure they are safe.” This is important advice, but keep in mind two things. First, the test kits provide only a limited screen, mostly to rule out pills and powders that do not contain any MDMA. They don’t detect purity. The only way to know for sure what drug(s) you have is to send a sample to Ecstasydata.org for full laboratory testing. Second, no drug use is completely “safe,” even pure MDMA. All drug use has risks.
- And just in case you have difficulty detecting irony, legal drugs can be just as dangerous as illegal ones. For example, chugging from a bottle of vodka (or tossing and catching it with one hand) can lead to all sorts of trouble. 🙂
